Blogger's Note - The preceding video is an unedited rough draft version and it could be refined and edited so the audio is overlaid and synched with a cleaner video of the powerpoint presentation which would look much better, but for right now the raw audio has at least turned out decent enough to justify posting the presentation online unedited, imo, mainly for the sole intent and purpose of getting it online in a timely manner. If the video quality or the fact that you can't really see the presenter annoys you too much, then don't let it, you can actually listen to the video as one would an audio book or podcast instead and it still makes for a decent presentation even without the visuals.

Anyhow, the most important thing is that you'll probably learn and perhaps even will critique a few things from it, depending on how experienced you are in the ideas of Physics and Philosophy yourself that is. Ultimately, I'm hoping that you will appreciate and enjoy it as much as I have, it was really a good presentation after all, and there was a lot of time an effort that went into that night that deserves to be much appreciated. Thanks a lot for the preparing all of this Tom and thanks for the hospitality of letting such a large group gathering at your house like this Elaine :)

What If Tunguska Was A Methane Explosion?

Here is a hypothesis based on abiotic methane leaking out of the ground, I did some the figuring for this a while back:

Unless the methane were rapidly leaking out of the ground for an amount of time prior to ignition....that could cause methane-oxygen ratios in explosive proportions. But still would need the info on how much methane-oxygen at STP you would need for a 5 megaton explosion though.

By volume the ratio is 2(O2)-1(CH4)

1 megaton = 4.184x10^15 Joules

5-15% methane in air is considered explosive

Energy released by methane = 802 Kj/mol = 802x10^3 J/mol

20.92 |TJ| / 802 |Kj/mol| =2.608x10^10 mols of CH4

5.217x10^10 mols of O2

Oxygen in air is 20%, and assuming that 5-15% ratio displaces only the nitrogen.

2.608x10^11 mols of air molecules is involved.

If that is uniformly spread out, then assuming 41.4 mol/m^3 for dry air

You end up with an explosion requiring approximately 6.301x10^9 m^3 of air/fuel mixture at STP. That’s a cube of about 1.847 kilometers in all directions in order to give you 5 megatons of energy from this reaction.

Tunguska was an area of 2000 km^2 = 2x10^9 m^2

So the amount of methane/air mixture in such an explosion would have been about 3.15 meters high off of the ground (save for all the imprecision in my assumptions)....anyhow, that seems reasonable for the damage done.

(doesn’t it make sense that 1625 metric tons of methane gas needs to be combusted to yield 5 megatons energy equivalent of TNT?)

...note, although it is fun to think about, like a gigantic barbecue grill being lit up, it probably was still most likely an asteroid event according to the sightings recorded in this Sibir newspaper article from July 2, 1908 from Wikipedia:

"On the 17th of June, around 9 a.m. in the morning, we observed an unusual natural occurrence. In the north Karelinski village [200 verst, or about 130 miles, north of Kirensk] the peasants saw to the north west, rather high above the horizon, some strangely bright (impossible to look at) bluish-white heavenly body, which for 10 minutes moved downwards. The body appeared as a "pipe", i.e. a cylinder. The sky was cloudless, only a small dark cloud was observed in the general direction of the bright body. It was hot and dry. As the body neared the ground (forest), the bright body seemed to smudge, and then turned into a giant billow of black smoke, and a loud knocking (not thunder) was heard, as if large stones were falling, or artillery was fired. All buildings shook. At the same time the cloud began emitting flames of uncertain shapes. All villagers were stricken with panic and took to the streets, women cried, thinking it was the end of the world."

Earth's Place in the Cosmos

...also note, I disagree with the maker of that video because the term "creationist" is a rather vague term as it can refer to many things, anybody who creates something such as a painting or a blogpost or realizes that such things are intelligently designed is actually a "creationist" as well, but that doesn't mean that all creationists believe that everything that has some kind of a structure or form or pattern to it is intelligently designed though, as the bulk of things in the universe are natural formations that self generate according to the chaotic laws of nature (Below is a storyboard capture that I've extracted from that video, click the image to enlarge)

Note - to make the assumption that the Earth is the only planet where life has evolved, out of the innumerable other such Earth-like planets in the Universe or Multiverse, is just nuts. It would be like making the assumption that there is only one fly that exists in the entire Universe just because that is only one that happened to land on your plate at the pick-nick table, it's just way out of proportion for such a belief to hold true, and when we start looking around we'll almost certainly be able to see a lot more of them.

Even more out of perspective is the belief that the entire Universe somehow was created by some kind of intelligence...simply an impossible task (if you think it is a possible task then you have got a lot of proving to do, that would employ a very grandiose amount of invisible pink angels or a grandiose amount of pulleys and levers to accomplish that kind of task), and even more out of perspective would be the assumption that the entire Universe would have been created just for Humankind or for Earthlings (we're just not that special to own it all, and certainly we aren't anywhere near advanced enough to somehow "take it all" either).

As for the vague idea of creation, perhaps it's possible that aVILS (a Very Intelligent Living Species) created or manipulated or terraformed some planets and asteroids while leaving other such planets and asteroids relatively untouched such that they still remain as natural formations. I don't think anybody could prove or disprove the notion that our Earth may have been artificially created to varying degrees (i.e. maybe a race of aVILS could have towed asteroids from the asteroid belt to shape and form the Earth or something, albeit any extraordinary claims still require extraordinary proof).

Many of the ancient religions seem to at least point to the claim that the Earth was somehow created by the "gods" which could perhaps be more appropriately interpreted as being an ancient race of aVILS, albeit none of those religions have ever positively proved those claims to the standards of modern scientific scrutiny there are many within the UFO and alien research community that are currently attempting to do just that and in all likely-hood, given the number of Earthlike planets surrounding our interstellar neighborhood, will probably eventually succeed in doing so as well if they research and investigate these matters with enough rigor.

The Bornhoeft-Falk Theory

The following theory was told to me by a guy named Charles Bornhoeft (contact by email), we had some discussions about it and whatnot.

The Bornhoeft-Falk Theory(ies) –

“aVILS (a very intelligent living species) put humanoids here 4 million years ago (5 different types – hominids, homo habilis, homo erectus, Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo Sapiens, however all but one has died out in the course of history) as part of a scientific experiment and to “reform our primitive ways” (perhaps the aVils modified and moved species around multiple times throughout history as per the fossil record and possibly had something to do with the 530 mya Cambrian Explosion as well, perhaps various species that have died out here still are evolving on other planets, perhaps our species originated on a different planet as well)

…humans are “facultative” carnivores which leads to our aggression and wars, and we should start eating a more vegetarian (or higher pH-forming) diet

…aVils can read minds, cure illness, answer prayers, (walk through walls), perform all sorts of technological miracles and can make you aware of their existence (but are less advanced and/or are searching for some kind of “god” albeit that is quite ill-defined, what kind?)

…perhaps the aVILS have some way of teleportation and reincarnation or afterlife that they either possess or are in search of, and may have taken a significant part in creating the philosophies or beliefs found in all the major Earth religions (perhaps they gave different religious rules to different groups of people to see which ones would come out on top in the long run, sort of like a horse race)

…the aVILS (maybe a far older species thereof) may have helped put our moon in orbit, or helped accellerate the conglomeration of the spray from the 4.5 bya Big Splash Collision that is theorized to have occurred by the mainstream cosmology (if there were multiple moon formations rather than just one, then the oceanic tides on Earth would be very chaotic and the earth would be much more susceptible to wobbling giving rise to rapid and possibly unpredictable seasonal changes, also the moon does not appear to be a loose conglomeration of debris but rather more solidly composed or fused together)

…the aVILS (perhaps multiple species thereof) have constantly been monitoring our progress throughout history (as well the progress of others developing on different planets), have been suppressing information about their presence (perhaps through religions and governments), may have taken part in prehistoric mass extinctions (65mya, in order to get rid of the vicious dinosaurs), and may also be protecting our planet from such extinctions as of 4.5 mya (perhaps they cause mass extinctions or prevent such extinctions on many different planets within the galaxies)

... there are many different species of aVILS, some of them have advanced to become cyborgs, others are artificially intelligent machine droids, however some or most aVILS (including humans) are still very much carbon based biological entities. It may be possible that certain droids had figured out how to survive the last major Big Crunch-Bang (the relatively dense collision of many blackholes and galaxies over a small region of space, perhaps by shifting through another dimension as most aVILS seem to be capable of as they can travel through walls and disappear and reappear in plane sight, and even achieve hyperdrive between star systems according to the many claims from various UFO sitings) and thereby there could be a much older aVIL species than the age of our presently known universe”

THE BORNHOEFT THEORY:

All Black holes meet prior to the big bang (Sister Universe). The age of this Universe is approximately 15 billion years old. Earth was formed approximately 5 billion years after the big bang, or 10 billion years ago. Life begins on Earth 6 billion years after it was formed or 4 billion years ago. Bone Earth started 3.5 billion years after the first forms of life, 500 million years ago. For a very strange reason, the Hominid man appears 496 million years after Bone Earth was formed, just 4 million years ago. We have been on Earth a very short period of
time.

We did not originate on Earth. We were put here (4) four million years ago by a Very intelligent living species. (aVils) They have been visiting us ever since. We are a large scale science project.

They…………. A variety of a Very intelligent living species visiting planet Earth on a regular basis. (aVils)

We…………… Homo sapiens, extraterrestrial, 200.000 thousand years old / 4 million, Earth time.

We have the technology to know of them and spread the word. These statements are FACT:

UFO’S and USFO’S are real.
They, the living species that navigate these vessels are real
We, the Pilots, Astronauts, Politicians and Civilians that see and record these vessels are real
We drew them on walls 100,000 years ago
We record them in High Definition now
They are a Very intelligent living species related to us and not related to us. (aVils)
They have been visiting Earth for at least (4) four million years.

The biggest news story in the history of man cannot be told. (YET)
They manipulate the NO CONTACT CONSPIRACY, (not our governments)
They will not allow humans born on Earth ask questions and have the answers made public.
They manipulate the un-told story about Earth and its history books
They are in control of Earth and its safety as a planet.
They have not let a large meteorite hit planet Earth since it was populated with 5 different types of primates. Hominids, Homo Habilis, Homo Erectus, Homo Neanderthalensis, Homo Sapiens. These 5 different types of primates just appeared on Earth and died off, “except one”.
We, the Homo sapiens survived as off 2011, we are only 200,000 thousand years old / 4 million.
This explains the missing link, Mr. Darwin.

We evolved and survived on Earth from a high intake of protein. (facultative carnivores)
This characteristic gene leads to battles and even major wars.
We have been fighting wars since we were put here 4 million years ago, Earth time.
We are a primitive culture, and a very primitive species.
They watch our wars happen in real time. (part of the science project)

They can perform miracles with technology.
They parted the Red Sea

They are very good at reading minds.

They can answer prayers.

They are very good at curing illness
They can make you aware of their existence.

These statements are in THEORY: (the big science project)
Perhaps they introduced all the major religions on Earth, past and present.
Perhaps they were directly involved with the birth of Christ and his reasons
Perhaps they cannot prove if their spirit lives on. ( aVils born in the universe)
Perhaps we cannot prove it for them. (Homo sapiens born on Earth)

Perhaps they too are in search of God, the Creator and the next life.

Quantum Time Phases and Shifts

You're not going to find this in any mainstream physics book, however it presents a common sense solution to the time paradoxes that intrinsically plague relativity such as the Grandfather Paradox where someone allegedly in theory travels back in time then kills his or her grandpa thereby precluding ever being born. Time travel does not actually work in that way at all though since the atoms that made up the grandfather (and everything else present in his time-plane) would already be in a in the future and no longer would be present in the past anymore, only the time traveler would be present in the time-plane of the past.

The implications of this allow 5 dimensional travel where position in relative time is dependent on an absolute time frame (in terms of the ratio of the relative time-wavelength per unit of absolute time or dt/dT) and also dependent on the relative speed of light in spacial dimensions as well.

Why does this matter? Mainly because the claims about aliens that can distort space-time and travel through walls depends on such a 5 dimensional space-time system.

I just attended the International UFO Conference in Fountain Hills, AZ which had some extremely fascinating presentations concerning UFO's and an alien presence in our own solar system neighborhood and most allegedly on Earth as well. All of that was really neat and I will be making some blogposts about that particular subject matter, however some of the things in the convention center itself, which was held in the Radison, just seemed to have caught my eye, so I snapped a few photos of them

On History, Aliens, UFOs, Classified Documents, and Advanced Technologies

Note - This is a series of my thoughts on the subject matter that I have compiled from my comments elsewhere

ON HISTORY:

The level of rigor involved in discussing history is a few notches below the level of rigor involved in news broadcasting. The ancients didn’t provide enough diagrams to go with their extraordinary claims. (stone carvings, and such, however)

ANCIENT TECHNOLOGIES:

I highly doubt that the pyramids could have been levitated by accoustical energy, according to one of the claims from the Ancient Aliens Technology show, given the amount of decibels required for such a thing.

It is possible that the ancient maybe had film projectors back then, just take a divergent glass lens and line mirror up with a source of light reflecting off of animation drawings on rapidly flipping papyrus sheets, aiming at a white painted surface.

Given that a lot of ancient myths involve extraterrestrials, animal hybrids, and the fact that they did have many complex machines as well, perhaps it is possible that the ancients actually had all sorts of genetic experiments going on, or perhaps genetic experiments combined with aliens and robots as well.

ALIEN SKEPTICISM:

I'm somewhat skeptical of intelligent beings visiting Earth, and even more skeptical of them being able to breath our air, but as far as microbial or viral aliens I find that quite more likely to be the case. I also believe it's possible that some ancients invented aerial flying balloons and possibly even put some heiroglyphic objects into orbit around the Earth (perhaps via a giant catapult or chemical rocket). But, anyhow, an intelligent alien visiting Earth would be somewhat similar to a human visiting the Bonobos population, however, in the same way that humans aren't worshipped by Bonobos, it is much less likely that intelligent aliens would be worshipped by humans.

Why would highly advanced aliens have visited our ancient societies and then have enslaved the less intelligent humans when in fact they could have employed advanced robotics to achieve their work instead?

Why would ancient aliens use DNA to create us instead of something that can withstand intense space radiation? Also, there’s no reason why life could not have sailed here on radiation pressure in a meteor.

If our species can interfere with other life on Earth, then that means our species can interfere with life on other planets too. I wouldn't mind owning an alien ant farm or alien fish tank or whatnot, so long as they are technologically less advanced than we are, hell, I wouldn't even mind owning a caged space monkey....I expect that it is survival of the fittest, but at the same time I wouldn't advocate doing anything mean to a less advanced species as I wouldn't expect a more advanced species to do anything mean to us, unless we were first hostile to them.

Perhaps strong interstellar magnetic fields could have launched alien spacecraft around, as per Electromagnetic Space Weather.

Perhaps some of those alien witnesses are hallucinations, perhaps other UFO's are radar malfunctions, perhaps most of the rest are hoaxes or foreign military drones or civilian test flights, perhaps a lot are meteors and other natural phenomena, but a rare few of UFO and other bizzar sitings are not identifiable by any of those categories though. It's those remaining few of the sitings that greatly intrigue the UFO fans among us.

CLASSIFIED DOCUMENTS:

As soon as something becomes classified, then there is all sorts of speculation about why. The U.S. government has begun classifying meteorite impacts for some reason.

UFOs:

There are many possible explanations for UFO incidents, each one is unique. Ice particles, star wars tests, space trash, top secret government crafts, high tech hobbyists, abnormal weather patterns, illusions, hallucinations, hoaxes, etc, and then there are alien spacecraft as well.

I think that, certainly, UFO events that are observed in mass or that make the news are the most credible, followed by reports from vfr pilots, astronauts, and air traffic controllers, and then there are the police and military personnel....however, sometimes even the best of them can be wrong, and other times the best of them can put out misinformation too.

How is it that a UFO has never shot down a fighter pilot or a pilot has never shot down a UFO if there has been these reported "dog fights"? Or perhaps it has occurred but merely has been covered up (Boyd Bushman claims the Roswell UFO was shot down using secret electrical Tesla weapons mounted on an airplane). Why hasn't there been any inventors who have invented useful devices whom claim to have been given information by aliens? Clearly no inventors would be worried about the aliens getting prior art, am I right?

ON ADVANCED TECHNOLOGIES:

Technology always wins the war, incidentally it has always been technology deployed by a military force. However, if technology were to turn on us, well, we wouldn't stand a chance

My main stance on the issue is that inventions that enhance humanity are good, but that inventions that replace humanity are bad. However, that will all change some day in the distant future when we evolve beyond the need for an organic body, perhaps we will exist as minds in a robot's body in the future, or perhaps as we merge with intelligent computer minds and robotics, and with nanotech, etc. The future is something to be embraced, as supply and demand allows more people to embrace the bio-technical enhancements that technology will allow for us, as we as humanity decide the path our future will take.

Civilization is immortal, and evolves into perfection.

IMMORTALITY:

The lure of individual immortality occurs when we mere mortals have many great ideas but not enough time to employ them all and see them to fruition. However, until the day when immortality is achievable, the best solution is to share them, keeping them open like a source of free thought, free for all conscious life to take a chance at.

The Dot Pyramid Sequence and The Sum of the Diagonal Dot Pyramid Spiral

Just wanted to crack this little mystery is all. The dot pyramid sequence relates to finding the combinations of "k" points that can occupy a given number of "n" spots assuming any amount of points can occupy the same spots, ergo it relates to possible ground state patterns that bosons can assume in Einstein-Bose Condensation at cool temperatures. However, this concept is also of pure aesthetic mathematical values as well.

What is that mysterious diagonal sum sequence though? Here is cracking of that mystery, apparently the points that make up each sum-sequence take on a family of parabolic curves of the form "Rx(i)= -2i^2 + (x+3)i - x" where the number of positive integer values for each curve goes from "i=1" to "i=(x+(1+(-1)^(x+1))/2)/2", and each sequential diagonal sum is the summation for Rx(i) over the range of "i" for each Matrix row "Rx" pertaining to each parabola within the family of parabolas.

The thing that caught my eye about that sum of diagonals of dot pyramid sequence (SDDP) is that it looks similar to the Fibonacci sequence (1,1,2,3,5,8,13,21...) except that it diverges short of that sequence after 8... "SDDP = (1,1,2,3,5,8,12,18,25,35,46,...)", so just for curiosity sake I decided to graph this lesser known spiral out on Excell:

On Expanding Planets and Plate Tectonics

Note: This is a compilation of my comments about the subject matter, and much of it is of a controversial nature.

When a solid turns to a liquid or gas, generally there is an expansion and pressures tend to build up, which is what explains some CO2 geysers of icey moons. The state of matter in the atmospheres and subsurfaces really depend on the local temperatures and pressures of the planet or moon and the material present or the kind of material which arrives there by meteor or asteroid impact, or by other means. Perhaps that gives some validity to Neal Adam's animations of expanding planets. Although I reject the notion that the Earth and all other planets are purely expanding, perhaps they all are expanding to varying degrees, and perhaps contracting in other instances too, each case being unique.

There is no real reason why there can't be both subduction and an expanding/contracting Earth....just to put all of the physical processes on the table, see also Earthquake Storms and Continental Drift and Our Evolutionary History and also Earth's Interior and The Origin of Magmas.

In continental drift theory, perhaps water, or abiotic hydrocarbons, or liquefied magma acts as a lubricant upon which the plate boundaries slide. What may cause the apparent expansion is the oceanic crust lifting up the continental crust due to 'cooling' iron from the mantle expanding from a body centered cubic to a face centered cubic crystalline structure and thereby fill the gaps resulting in volcanism. My bet is the rate of seafloor spreading at the oceanic trenches is greater than the rate of subduction at the mountainous subduction zones.

If that is the case, then perhaps there should be a longterm receding seas effect being observed, but also the rate of iceberg melting from the end of the last worldwide ice age up through the projected future of global warming ought to be contributing to sea levels rising at an even greater rate than the relatively slow process of expansion is making them recede (however, icebergs do float on water, so in liquid form, once the water warms above 4 Celcius they water actually should start getting less dense and receding once again). Will people need to live in underwater sea domes or on artificial islands someday in the future? It certainly isn't a unique trend considering that many of the most ancient cities being found in the world are actually beneath the sea level.

In clearing up one commonly thought myth, oceanic crust don't actually sink straight down at subduction zones, any angle besides 90 degrees straight down is usually observed since the continental crust which is sitting on top of the oceanic crust tends to shift around and also slowly rises upward over time, also contributing to the "the mysterious receding seas" effect that have been observed in some parts of the Earth yet not in other parts, and also mountain ranges where the continental crust has been pinched upward as well. Maybe some of the continents have historically rose up also due also to glacier melts reducing weight on them as the water rushed down to the ocean level, and simultaneously sea levels rose due to all the water rushing down to sea level as well thereby creating a situation where the net sea level rose in some places and fell in other places.

Seismologists and geologists determine the kind of plate boundaries that exist at various continental and oceanic fault lines by the type of siesmic wave that is encountered during earthquake events. Throughout geological history, there must have been tremendous energies involved in the different tectonic plates overcoming friction and sliding above and below each other and some of them sinking down beneath each other as per the rock cycle. I've stated that perhaps water or oil or molten rock or some other substance may have provided the lubrication for those processes, however also to consider is that fusion/fission and iron expansion due to heat, and possibly even antimatter annihilations or static electrical pressures or even microblack hole formations deeper down in the core as being possible power sources in driving the plate tectonics as well.

As for Mars, with all the various young valleys and older plateaus, it is mainly composed of iron, I doubt it is expanding anymore as there are no active volcanoes anymore as far as astro-geologists know, aside from the formation of methane plumes....perhaps Mars' present geological inactivity helps demonstrate my theory of the historically expanding iron core on Mars as well as the presently expanding iron core on Earth. If Mars had the right temperature and pressure values on the surface, it would have an atmosphere and ocean similar to that found on the Earth with water erosion and the whole likes, but since it doesn't that thereby allows Mars to have long term craters from meteorites and possibly also from dry ice bombs/geysers as well. Modern theory says that the erosion of Mars is mostly due to dust storms and from the extremely rare water melts which are atmospheric in nature, but could possibly be from electromagnetic space weather as well given that there is lightning on Mars.

A Theory on Love and Seduction

ON LOVE AND HATE: Emotions are not taught, emotions are something that are felt. Love long pre-dates religion, and it still exists to this day. It is an evolved mechanism. Same as hate. All animals can love and hate just as well as humans can, and there is nothing profound about loving or hating. Love is one of the most powerful emotions people can experience, like sex in hyperdrive.

On Supply and Demand, Selling Out, and "Beating the Devil"

I think this song by Johnny Cash about beating the metaphorical "Devil" (of the music industry in his case) gets more profound each time you listen to it. Supply and Demand is a harsh mistress, and poverty is the scariest devil there is when people (in general) are supplying what they love but it's not in demand by anybody else. People are often times tempted to start delivering or supplying what they don't actually love and care to be delivering, just because there is a real world demand for it and it will bring them money. That is what the phrase "sold out" often times means when applied to a band, and how the phrase "selling your soul" means in a secular sense (by no means should that be judged negatively by other people though, because any form of success is good success, actually the only rightful judges are when people are judging themselves):

Here is Supply and Demand in it's best representation, to use a bowling analogy, notice there's a pascals triangle in there, AND a ying yang, plus a bowling ball too. Yes, it must be a great feeling to "sell out" and start making tons of money on delivering something that you may not necessarily love yourself. However, sometimes, in rare cases, people are successful in supplying exactly what they love doing to the masses, which is the metaphorical "Beating the Devil at his game" and winning the "golden fiddle" that has somewhat of a symbolism amongst artists and performers, and it also applies to the rest of us as well:

ON ZERO POINT ENERGY AND CONSCIOUSNESS

When people speak of tapping into zero-point energy, they are talking about unlimited energy as a fuel source, much in the sense that nuclear fusion and anti-matter are fuel sources, albeit unlimited. If I could tap into the zero-point energy of the universe I would develop an all powerful perpetual motion robot to do my bidding, for the greater good of course.

Some people think, however, that because zero-point energy consists of vacuum fluctuation wavelengths less than a plank length and because it is thereby physically unmeasurable due to the quantum uncertainty principle that it might be conscious since it exhibits free chaos will. I don't necessarily draw this conclusion that because it is random and unpredictable that it is necessarily conscious so easily, at least extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. Oddly enough, some people use the argument that because zero-point energy is conscious, assuming it even exists and can be tapped into, that it would be immoral to harness it and use it for purposes of technology, they view it as an enslavement of nature which is a completely bizarre philosophical viewpoint. Some people go so far as to claim that zero-point energy is not only conscious and all powerful, but it is actually god too, yet another extraordinary claim that has never been experimentally demonstrated though.

So what is freedom and enslavement anyhow? Or better yet, philosophically speaking, aren't all conscious minds simultaneously enslaved and also free to varying degrees and corresponding to different aspects? In my view, freedom only really exists for those who are self-sufficient and independent of external influences, in the sense those whom are free have discovered some means by which to employ nature to do all the work for them. Throughout history, humans have done just that by way of technological innovations, they have developed machines and computers, engines and motors that do their bidding.

In my view, all consciousness that exists is a result of function and chance, and has evolved to dominate and form nature to it's will, not the other way around. Conscious entities, particularly those that have evolved a manner of intelligence, ought not be afraid of nature, but rather they ought to understand nature and conquer her processes. It does mankind no good, for instance, to look at a lightning bolt and grow terrified for lack of understanding, or to look at fire and then to run in fear of it, but rather what makes humanity intelligent is that we employ such mechanisms to do work for us. The seemingly random processes of nature and the intrinsic indeterminability of the past and unpredictability of the future due to uncertainties in measuring the exact state of being ought not be something that is worshiped by conscious intelligences but rather something to be harnessed and enjoyed.

In addition to the processes of nature, what also needs to be conquered by intelligences is their own conscious minds. Conscious minds possess Free Chaos Will just like everything else in the universe, thereby making the future indetermined until it has been determined. If intelligent minds are moral, if they seek to create and improve the world then they will ensure that their collective and individual lives thrive, however if they neglect to create and improve the world or if they try to destroy the world then they will stagnate and possibly even bring about their own demise.

Love and Fear are also mechanisms employed by conscious minds. Intelligent minded individuals must use their emotions appropriately lest they reek destruction on the intricate complexities and relationships in nature rather than using them to improve upon and strengthen her very existence. For example, fire is a lovely chemical reaction when used properly for cooking or heating and also for purifying water or generating electricity, however people shouldn't necessarily use that same process for destructive means, such as to burn down a house that others put a lot of time and effort into creating, for instance. For the love of destruction leads to the demise of civilization whereas the love of creation leads to the everlasting rise and existence of it. All of civilization is consciousness manifested.

Although it would appear to violate the conservation laws as we know them, perhaps everything in the universe came into existence from the processes of zero-point energy being released into the vacuum of space. Although zero-point energy is not necessary for the formation of matter and energy to have occurred in our universe, since vacuum energy suffices to explain their perpetual existence of neither being created or destroyed. However, the idea that the universe may have infinite zero-point energy density within the vacuum fluctuations, which hasn't been experimentally demonstrated, isn't necessarily theoretically impossible yet either. The possibility that the sun will never run out of energy, that stars could burn for eternity, that your car could drive indefinitely on non-consumable fuel sources given that there was some mechanism to tap and utilize the zero-point energy of the universe is quite alluring, however not a necessary requirement for a perpetual existence nonetheless. The idea that zero-point energy is infinitely dense would demonstrate that energy would not only be a conserved quantity but also that it could be possible to create and dissipate it indefinitely as well.

I have my own theory called Infinite Universe Model that doesn't necessarily invoke zero-point energy, however it could easily do so if it were experimentally demonstrated that the zero-point energy actually exists and manifests as a naturally occurring process. I'm not denying its existence, however I will remain skeptical until it gets implemented into technologies though, assuming it ever actually will. If people think the aether field is conscious, perhaps even experiences emotions such as love and hate like a conscious mind, that is another bold claim that I fail to understand and also am quite skeptical of as well. I have an open mind, I'm open to the possibility of it however I don't know that it's necessarily the case, although the speculation about that is fascinating.

Nobody really knows what Cern will ultimately discover some day, given their intense particle collisions. Perhaps the folks over at Cern will ultimately discover something that will allow me to build my perpetual motion robot though. :)

"How to Win Friends and Influence People".

How to treat people:
Never criticize, condemn or complain about people unless there is a very good reason too. Be forewarned though, when people are judged they become very defensive, and this will potentially turn even your friends against you. Therefore, judge not lest ye be judged.

In order to motivate people to do anything for you, you must first reveal how it will be beneficial to them. By revealing the benefits of certain actions, you can arouse desires and instill new motives in people. Conversely, it is unfair to force or trick people to do anything which is only to your benefit, and it will likely result in strife or even revenge.

Always show sincere appreciation and praise for a job well done for this encourages further excellence and friendly cooperation, but be honest when somebody has fallen short of expectations because this will let people know where they should improve.

~~~~RULE from It’s Your Ship:
-> If people come up short, then get it out in the open with them immediately, perhaps you just need to provide some form of instructional training for them is all.
->However, if they already have had the training, then perhaps you need to give them a deadline by which time they need to improve their technique or else there will be some form of consequences.
-> When you warn people about the consequences of not improving by the given deadlines, be sure that you are clear and specific about what the consequences are going to be. For honesty sake, be sure to actually carry the penalties out if you haven’t seen the level of improvement that you were expecting of them by the deadlines.

In order to win people over to you:

Try to be genuinely happy and content with yourself, be sure to smile and show good humor. Do this and the people around you will want to share within some of that joy and good humor, happiness and contentness are contagious and tend to uplift general morale.

Remembering people’s names is extremely important and easy to do, you just have to take the time. Always try to use people’s real names whenever it is possible to do so. Nicknames are not as good as the real thing unless they are preferred.

Always try to express a genuine interest in other people. People are generally more interested in talking about themselves and their accomplishments than listening to what you have to say. When you meet people, always be a good listener and encourage them to talk about themselves if you are interested. Listening to what other people have to say about themselves makes it easier for you to warm up to them and vise versa.

Try to talk in terms of other people’s interests. Talking about something that the other person is interested in generally makes for good conversation. If you don’t know something about the subject matter, then be sure to ask questions about it, this is a good opportunity to learn something new and maybe pick up a new interest.

Try to be outgoing and to make people feel genuinely important too. When you make people feel important, then they will accept your advice and what you say to them as important in return.

How to influence people with you ideas:

Arguments generally never get people to change their mind because it causes people to become highly defensive of themselves. Nobody likes being proved wrong because this can be a stomp on their dignity. People will remain unconvinced and perhaps even stand firmer with their original positions if their belief is put on the line. Arguing creates enemies and sometimes makes it impossible to sway people to your line of thought.

Try to avoid arguments with people whenever possible. If a disagreement is brought up between you and someone else, however, then it is important for you to remain objective. The hard facts and data don’t lie, and therefore rational people can’t really argue with them, but some people will argue with just about anything regardless of the factuality.

Unfortunately, however, nobody can remember what all the facts are, and it is important not to make up any facts as you‘re going along. A good strategy for resolving argumentative conflicts is to get people to explain what it is that they disagree on by asking questions in a socratic manner. Always look for and emphasize the areas that you agree with in that person’s explanations, and be sure to apologize for any mistakes you might have made in the conversation. If you are unsure of a matter that is brought to your attention though, then be sure and promise to think over or research the new points.

Pointers and exceptions:
-> Don’t argue with the experts, however, but if you don’t understand then be sure and ask them to explain it to you because they most likely know more of the facts and details than you do, and they can usually school you in any argument that is based on the extrapolation of the facts that is within their expertise.

-> This obviously doesn’t work for religions or subjects where the beliefs are based on faith or superstition rather than on the facts though. It is unimaginable to be calling a schemer or a believer in a faith based scheme an "expert" of sorts.

A) Ergo, if you can see that somebody that you care about is being hindered by certain fantasy beliefs or that the logic behind the belief is hindering their thought process and it doesn’t hurt you to bring it up with them, then be sure to point out that their beliefs aren’t grounded in fact and therefore they are believing in something that is illogical and untrue. This will only work if you have some idea about how to refute the argument without being overly intrusive though.

B) If somebody’s irrational actions or fantasy beliefs are hindering you, perhaps that person believes in superstition dictating important decision making or that people need to make unnecessary sacrifices that cause loss and misfortune without making any positive gains, then it is important to evaluate that particular situation and decide what to do about it.

State your beliefs, opinions, and recalled facts in a non-authoritative manner if you happen to be unsure about the subject matter being discussed. Tell people that you’re not 100% sure of what you are about to say or specify that it is a theory, and then explain your thinking on how something goes “….” Phrasing things in a non-authoritative manner when you are unsure or asking questions socratically will cause people to think more critically about what you’ve said, and maybe they will be able to shed some light or add something more to the conversation without causing an argument to ensue. The great Socrates once said something along the lines of, “...even the experts know little when compared to the collective body of knowledge, and also next to nothing when compared to the seemingly infinite amount of premises and ideas that have never even been and possibly will never be discovered by the collective whole...”

If you’ve done something wrong, you should take the initiative and apologize before others bring it up. This will take the fight out of the accuser and will speed up the process of forgive and forget.

-> A simple apology can prevent something as big as a lawsuit or as small as a grudge, but it doesn’t always work.
-> In some situations, you’re not even obligated to apologize for what you’ve done because of the following:
A) It is such a small thing that the person won’t even be bothered by it
B) What you’ve done was a legal move and they deserved it (like firing someone)

Always try to open up conversations in a friendly and helpful manner. People won’t despise anyone who acts genuinely as their friend. Conversely, try not to open up conversations in an unfriendly or demanding manner. As Abraham Lincoln once said, “A drop of honey catches more flies than a gallon of gall.”

In order to talk effectively, the other person should always agree with as many points you make as possible. If you start up a conversation with a “yes...yes...yes-rhetoric” then it will psychologically cause that person to be in a state of agreement. The more yes-momentum that is built up early in the conversation, the less likely you are to strike a disagreement. In contrast, starting off with a disagreeable point will be detrimental to the overall purpose of winning people over to your point of view.

Encourage others to express their thoughts and ideas while you listen with an open mind. People are always thrilled to talk about and express their own thoughts or ideas. If someone tells you an idea that doesn’t make sense, then ask them how they arrived at that conclusion. Some people have very good ideas that you would have not thought of by yourself. If you listen to other people’s ideas with an open mind, they may even want to return the favor and listen to your thoughts and ideas.

Ask successful people about their life’s achievements, for this is always of value to you. It is in the sort of small talk that, not only will the successful people like you for showing an interest, but you will have discovered another way to go about doing things successfully that you didn’t realize before.

People are fond of their own ideas just as you are fond of your own ideas. The reason that you’re fond of your own ideas is because you came up with them. Ergo, however, other people won’t just accept your own ideas if you try to hand it to them on a silver platter without a valid explanation. If you really want people to accept your ideas, you must tactfully help them arrive at the same conclusions you did. This is done by making suggestions that lead them through the same line of reasoning and to the same conclusion. Ultimately, they should think of the idea before they will accept it as truthful.

The ability to see things from someone else’s point of view, to metaphorically put yourself in the shoes of others, is a valuable asset towards gaining someone’s respect for you. By talking in a way that relates to other people’s perception, you can change their mind on extremely important issues and help them perceive it from your point of view.

Sometimes it is necessary to sympathize with people to get them to do what they don’t feel like doing. People need to know that you (1) understand the hardships involved, and (2) that the benefits from achieving a particular goal can largely outweigh the hardships involved in achieving it. Be sure to let them know how that you understand what it would be like if you were in their shoes, but that you see the advantages.

All people have the basic desire to do what’s right. Always make people feel as they are noble and honest and instill in them a sense of trustworthiness by appealing to the nobler motives.

Always reveal the positive effects of your ideas with a sense of showmanship. People are more likely to want to buy a car after they’ve seen it in action in commercials, similarly, people are more likely to accept your ideas if they have seen some showmanship and a good presentation.

Sometimes, proposing a direct challenge is the best way to get people striving to do better. The willingness to compete is an important attribute in hiring somebody too.

How to become a good leader:

Being a good leader means influencing people’s attitude and behaviors without arousing resentment. In order to be a leader, you must be able to think on your feet and be able to speak appealingly to the majority of people.

If you must point out people’s errors, you must acknowledge what they did good first and foremost. This will make them more receptive to what you are about to tell them, and then let them know that everybody makes mistakes, including even you. Thirdly, in order to make your demeanor appear less threatening, be sure to draw attention to a similar mistake that you once made or if you never made one then let them know that you understand how it is possible to make that particular mistake. Ultimately, though, so long as people don’t feel threatened as you‘re correcting them, they will be more open to following your advice or pointers.

People don’t like taking direct orders, so don’t give them direct orders. Instead, explain to people why certain tasks need to be done, and then nicely ask them to do these things.

Always be considerate towards other people’s feelings and let them save face when you have to make difficult decisions. When people know they’re getting the best out of certain situations, they will be the most satisfied.

Always give praise for a job well done, for this encourages further cooperation and excellence. People will improve without bounds when they receive honest praises for improvements in their abilities.

Many successful people succeed because of honest opinions. If you tell people that they have it in them to do spectacular things with their lives, they will strive to achieve remarkable things. With modest encouragement, some people can succeed where others have failed.

People never like to be regarded as below average or as underachievers by others. With a little encouragement, people will strive to prove others wrong. As any good tutor knows, failing students will become A and B students when they encourage them to study harder and do better.

Make people happy to do certain tasks for you by letting them know the benefits involved or by giving them some kind of an incentive to do it.

According to biotic oil theory, how exactly are diamondoids supposed to get into the petroleum?

Do volcanoes contain methane, and possibly abiotic oil and coal, and if so to what degree do they exist? If there is a correlation, then it baffles me how people don't see a relation between volcanic activities and bitumin, or diamondoids in the oil and abiotic oil origins. It seems that oil shales are often times found within the proximity of volcanism and fault lines, however, other times they are found nowhere near any fault lines that are considered to be currently active.

Were the map layers on the right made by utilizing fossil theory?

(1) According to What is coal and how does it form, the following is a classification of coal:

Peat: 50% Carbon; not yet coal

Lignite: from peat (soft dark-brown coal) (70% carbon)

Bituminous Coal: from lignite at higher temperatures (100-200oC) (85% carbon)

Anthracite Coal: from bituminous coal at even higher temps (200-300oC); formed at 8-10 km depth (95% carbon); burns most efficiently and clean

Graphite: found at even higher temps and pressures (100% carbon)

And (2) for oil/natural gas, it has this to say:

oil window: oil and natural gas exist only under certain T and P conditions. At T>160 C, any remaining oil breaks down to form gas and at T>250 C the remaining organic matter transforms into graphite. Under normal conditions, oil exists at depths only down to 6.5km require a long (geologic times) process to form, involving burial and an increase in temperature and pressures.

According to A Microcosm In the Sea Floor, there is carbon reducing life at least to a depth of several hundred meters beneath the sea floor. This ought to give some credence to Thomas Gold's predictions, and surely some oil is being produced by this process, but this is still dwarfed by the much deeper hundred plus kilometer deep production of abiotic oil in the upper mantle that is thought to exist.

There is nothing in that article about the microcosm in the sea floor that explicitly claims that those organisms produce oil, however, I think it would be a safe bet to say that there is SOME oil being produced at those relatively shallow few-hundred meter sea floor depths due to the biological reduction of organic matter from those microorganisms in combination with the typical sea floor temperatures of about 300 degrees celsius. Such conditions just might suffice for generating oil according to fossil theory, however, just how much fossil oil production down there would still be considered minimal though when compared to abiotic oil generation much deeper within the Earth's mantle if it happens to be there.

It is safe to assume that oil reservoirs typically come from the upper mantle of the Earth given that there is a relatively high correlation between active fault lines and the locations where the reservoirs are commonly thought to be. In addition, there is experimental evidence which suggests that the conditions in the Earth's upper mantle are sufficient to produce oil abiotically as well.

But perhaps the rare oil shales that are found to be deposited along ancient swamps, and some of them aren't even located anywhere near currently active fault lines, are made from biological swamp detritus according to this comparative study of coal maturation.

How does abiotic theory explain gas shales and coal being found in and around Kentucky or Illinois for instance? (Note – Perhaps there are inactive fault lines all over the Earth simply due to many historic collisions of the continents, according to continental drift theory, from which they came)

However, in fossil theory, highly reduced organic molecules (such as hydrocarbons or Beta-Carotene or Vitamin D) present in an anoxic or anaerobic condition ought to be considered stable since there is no further way of reducing it, and highly oxidized molecules (such as sugars or ferric/manganic oxides) are readily reduced in those conditions since they provide a source of oxygen for the hydrogen rich acids to consume. Depending on the specific water chemistry of the swamps or lakes, there can be the spontaneous formation of water soluble metal compounds due to a change in their molecular mass-charge polarities, or alcohols and oganic acids spontaneously forming with the aid of the reducing microorganisms present in those conditions.... and similarly you can also get hydrogen sulfides and methane gas in the bottom of the thermoclines of unmixed waters even though the organic sludge actually started out with a high oxidation state.

Most bio-molecules are highly oxidized when compared to minerals such as FeO and CaCO3 and water.... that would mean that biological detritus requires even more heat and pressure to form hydrocarbons than at {30 kPa, 1200K} as stated in J.F. Kenny's Paper, well, except for the fact that the transition actually occurs in stages. According to biotic oil theory, 'highly oxidized organic molecules' are reduced in steps by microorganisms consuming the oxygen in semi-stable stages. So, in fact, the biotic transformation from organic detritus to oil doesn't happen all in one giant leap from, say, sugars to octane as J.F. Kenny assumes.

Also, J.F. Kenny, perhaps erroneously, makes the assumption that beta carotene and vitamin d molecules are unstable, but perhaps they are stable in frigid anoxic conditions at the depths of the arctic ocean though. Since algea produces the most triglycerides, and perhaps there are denser algea that sink down to the bottom in the oceans, then perhaps the unnamed catalysts comes from the sudden volcanic venting on the sea floor through that frigid algal sediment as the continental crusts shift around.

Note: in fact, n-alkanes can be easily created from triglycerides that are the free fatty acids that are found in common vegetable oils. This is how biofuel is synthesized. The pressures required have been demonstrated to be much smaller than that for the iron oxide/CaCO3 + H20 that J.F. Kenny was discussing. (Coal, however, may be a completely different story). Perhaps thus far demonstrates that oil is produced by both biotic and abiotic means, there is always biofuel too, but as far as coal goes, how does one turn charcoal into coal aside from using the metal-catylitic Fischer-Tropsch method?

Centia is a company producing n-alkanes from biofuel using some sort of pressure vessel, which probably requires much smaller pressures than say FeO + CaCO3 + H2O reactions. n-alkanes have been successfully produced from free fatty acids (FFAs). NCSU has also developed and demonstrated a patent-pending burner that can safely burn the glycerol generated from Step #1, using the resulting heat as a thermal source back into the process. Figure 3 shows the results from biogasoline testing where the objective was to crack n-alkanes to resemble the carbon number distribution of traditional gasoline. This was demonstrated at a Step #3 mass conversion efficiency in excess of 90% and was not being optimized.

Speculation: Assuming abiotic oil had been produced in the early history of Earth’s formation, and since biological molecules (especially fatty acids) often do strikingly resemble hydrocarbons, then perhaps life on Earth arose in abiotic tar pits!? The existance of the first RNA and the arisal of life have historically been considered mysterious, perhaps it’s possible “abiotic tar” may have been the starting point for life to have occurred.

On Fusion, Antimatter, and Micro-Black Holes in Stars

Fusion does not always occur at extreme heat as conventional wisdom says, it has been demonstrated to occur in extreme cold as well, as in Einstienien Bose Condensation, and probably it can occur in between those extremes of hot and cold as well, such as in “Cold Fusion”. In order to understand the many different types of fusion reactions, scientists need to determine what subatomic particles or atomic nuclei they are attempting to fuse together, at what energy levels or temperature-pressure values those reactions take place, and what atomic byproducts and particle-waves are being produced as a result. Actually, it is still the case that research into the many different possible atomic and subatomic reactions is a relatively new frontier being explored within the sciences. That research is just beginning to be applied to the various other physical sciences, such as geology and astronomy for instance, as well as being implemented into new technological innovations such as power generation, advanced propulsion systems, plasma and cutting tools, teleportation, and, rather unfortunately, in weapons systems too. There is so much yet to be discovered about the physics of high energy collisions and subatomic particles that it still remains premature to discount new hypothesis in many other areas of scientific research.

For instance, contrary to conventional geological wisdom there might actually be fusion regularly occurring within the core of the Earth and in other planets, but scientists might simply be unaware of that given the present state of knowledge. There may even be fusion generated Super Atoms that exist in the cores of the planets and the stars as a result of some combination of hydrostatic and electrostatic pressure buildups in between their fault lines and core layers similar to what occurs in Bussard's Fusor, for instance. Also of interest in particle physics and other physical sciences is the recently observed fact that lightning storms generate anti-matter in our own atmosphere on a regular basis, and very likely occurs in lightning storms on Mars and in Jupiter, likely even on our own moon as well. Given this, it is probably no surprise at all if the sun is constantly generating it's own lightning and matter-antimatter annihilation reactions in the corona as well.

According to the traditional model of the sun, fusion occurs at some depths as a result of hydrostatic and electrostatic pressures, and it is not such a surprise that hydrogen fusion occurs in the hot coronal arcs as well. More specifically, I hypothesize that the internal less-energetic nuclear fusion reactions of the denser atomic elements occur due to significant hydrostatic pressures from gravitation providing the activation energy which thereby generates the great ionic arcs of the outer corona which are bent back toward the sun by the great magnetic fields. There are much more energetic fusion reactions that occur within those gigantic arcing coronal bolts of lightning, and also anti-matter is constantly being generated and annihilated there as well. That hypothesis suffices to explain why the sun is much hotter at the corona than below the surface and down in the core, which may be composed of dense molten metals, perhaps dense fissionable metals similar to what is believed to be in Earth's core, and possibly even denser superatoms are found there as well.

Of particular interest about the sun is the magnetic solar cycle and the periodic formation of sunspots and subsequent release of coronal mass ejections and solar flares. Not much is very well understood with the conventional theories, however perhaps there is a phenomenon in high energy particle physics that can better explain what is happening. During the solar cycle, the sun acts as a giant RLC circuit, an inductor against the capacitance of the vacuum of space. The greatest time-rate-of-change of the sun’s magnetic field, when the magnetic field is inverting it's polarity which occurs every 11 years, occurs at the “solar maximum” which is when there is a maximum of sunspots being observed. I hypothesize that when the magnetic field is changing most rapidly it causes particles to begin colliding with each other at tremendous energies, with far greater energy than the Large Hadron Collider produces, and that causes thick clouds of micro-black holes to form, and thus creating sunspots that block out large portions of the sun. As those sunspot micro-black holes decay via "hawking cavitation", each hole randomly popping with huge energies, that creates the coronal mass ejections that are associated with sunspots, and thereby supplying the ionic conduit which Birkeland Currents can thereby travel through. Those microblack holes in the sunspots might in fact be launching the particles and photons they consume through time itself and thereby reappearing in the corona as solar flares or Birkeland currents at other points in time.

It shouldn't be any surprise if it is found out that all stars, in acting like oscillating LHC circuits against the capacitance of space, experience periodic star spots at their stellar minimums and maximums as well. This probably occurs at a wide range of frequencies varying greatly from our own sun's 11 year cycles that we're familiar with, and likely occurs within stars of all different masses and sizes from massive supergiants down to magnetars and pulsars and even at the event horizon boundaries of supermassive black holes in the centers of the galaxies as well.

ON ELECTROMAGNETIC SPACE WEATHER

Earth's magnetic field is very weak and can't be invoked as a source of anything with sufficient mass orbiting around the Earth, although the paths of ionized material such as from solar wind and Birkeland currents from the sun are affected greatly by Earth's magnetic field interacting with the immense velocity of the charged particles.

Atmospheric Plasma Convection

How do these currents between the Sun and the Earth and other planets work? Perhaps the Earth’s mantle acts as a positive terminal of a battery that is ground which emits electron holes thereby attracting electrons from the sun, and then perhaps deeper down in the Earth core holes are attracted and electrons (perhaps there are fusion/fission reactions occurring in the Earth's core) repelled toward the mantle as well. Given the incredible strength of electricity, can extremely intense Birkeland Currents from the sun cause Supervolcanoes or perturb the Earth on it’s axis, or change the orbital path of the Earth?

The moon is thought to have no atmosphere because there is no hydrostatic pressure due to insufficient gravitation, but that doesn't preclude it from having a dusty ionosphere due to static charge build up from the ionizing radiation of the sun. Is it thereby possible that the moon is losing mass to the Earth or other locations in space (comets, asteroids, and planets) via magnetic birkeland currents due to ionization of it's surface?

A 27 day thermosphere cycle, as observed in the earth's atmosphere, could be due to ionizing UV radiation hitting and thereby ionizing the Moon at different angles during the lunar month, which might actually be causing secondary Birkeland Currents from the Moon to the Earth in addition to the primary Birkeland Currents from the Sun hitting the Earth.

The sun, via Birkeland Currents and solar wind, supplies the Earth with fresh hydrogen (protons) and other elements (beta and alpha particles, He-3, etc) to regenerate the particles that are escaping from the Earth due to weak gravity, atmospheric gas concentrations probably have been in equilibrium due to that process for billions of years. Cation-anion binding probably occurs in significant proportions in the Birkeland currents and solar wind while en route to the Earth, and since those particles are neutral they become subject solely to the forces of gravitation and thereby pass through unaffected by the magnetic fields. My bet is that electrons in the solar wind, due to high velocity beta particles periodically being shot out of the nuclear furnace of the sun, act as the "leader" to those Birkeland Currents which provides the electro-conductive path that the positive nuclei travel through to get here.

According to this article, the energy flux from solar radiation alone in space near Earth is about 1365 watts per square meter (that's about 13.5x100 watt lightbulbs all being lit in 1 square meter area...If you have you ever put your hand near just one 100 watt lightbulb before, then you realize that 13.5 of them is equivalent to a lot of heat from electromagnetic radiation being crammed into a relatively small volume of space...this has great implications for the efficiency of solar panels and solar heating in space, and also allows for the possibility of large arrays of solar panels satellites that could beam down microwave energy to power base stations on the Earth's surface, or also for constructing an accidental weapon, or unfortunately maybe also a death ray too).

NASA explains that some significant proportion of the trajectory perturbation anomalies of their spacecraft orbits are caused by photonic pressures from the sun and also due to the heat buildup on the side and back panels which results in intense infrared rays reradiating back out into space thereby causing significant secondary path altering pressures as well. Might that photonic radiation pressure from the sun also have a significant impact on the paths of asteroids, comets, and meteors as well? Might that cause space rocks to charge up like a capacitor, and possibly even explode when they enter an atmosphere or are struck by stellar lightning bolts?

I don't think gravity even comes close to explaining what's on that picture. Dark Matter!? Wimps!? Machos!? Please, give me a break, at least give the tremendous strength of electrical forces a whirl. I know the problem is that obviously empty space has an electrical resistance value that drops off the voltage potential of a given charge in proportion to the inverse square of the distance from that charge, however suppose those giant plumes of plasma-gas were superconducting in the near zero temperature conditions of the vast intergalactic space, then ionized particle currents might travel the vast galactic distances between voltage potentials with ease. And so might spacecrafts, human, alien, and droid-bots alike could travel the vast vacuous seas of space on a superconducting lightning bolt.

On Gravitation, Black Holes, and Space-Time

Isaac Newton's experiments with the torsion bar and the lead weights demonstrated a gravitational field and the warping of space-time by masses. Gravitational fields are equivalent to acceleration when it comes to exerting forces on masses, and hence gravity causes a bending of the fabric of space-time. Mass and relativity theory have their validities as far as explaining the behaviour of gravitation, at least the mathematics of it in Roger Penrose's "The Road to Reality" looks sound enough.

The mass density by volume of the Earth is non-uniform and thereby creates a non-uniform gravitational field near the surface (variations ranging at +/-60 mGal whereby 1 milliGal is 10^-5 m/sec^2) that is more defined at close proximities than further away. Actually, at a far enough distance all planets look to be or can be more appropriately approximated as point masses at their center of mass (the point about which all unhinged mass distributions rotate).

Computationally, you can model the mass density by volume distribution of a given mass-body by discretization via breaking it up into cubic grid sections and then approximating the mass for the centroid of the individual equal volume segments, and then summing the gravitational field from each volumetric segment at any point in space to get the total superposition of the gravitational field at all points in the model. If the density of the mass-body is uniform, or varies linearly then you could use an analytical integration of the density over volume method instead of a finite element approximation method.

The hydrostatic distribution of many small masses that make up a fluid is determined by a statistical energy distribution based primarily on gravity, and second more locally on temperature and pressure, and in some cases electrical fields certainly can play a role in that distribution as well. (note - photon absorption and thereby electromagnetic heating is what causes thermals and wind currents in our atmosphere. At small scales, Brownian motion, electrostatic intermolecular forces, and the mean free path also plays an essential role in weather) Buoyancy is a result of gravitational energy and mass density distributions also.

In a planetary ring system, gravitation dictates that the lower ring masses orbit a planet in a faster time period than the higher ring masses. In conventional Newtonian physics, masses are held fixed for doing the calculations of the gravitational forces between them, and computing orbital trajectories is simple for a 2 body problem, however gets quite complicated for a 3 or more body problem. It takes complex differential equations or computational iterative simulations (like Euler's Method or Runge Kutta with boundary IC's or initial state IC's) to compute the multiple trajectories of the stars using Newton's or Einstein's equations, and at that they may or may or may not be completely correct either. Symmetry and Simulation: How Geometry Affects Scientific Computing from the Solar System to your Microwave Oven

According to quantum gravitation theory, gravitons are responsible for the presence of a gravitational field, however this phenomenon hasn't been experimentally documented, nonetheless Richard Feynman hypothesized this to be the case in his "The Feynman Lectures on Physics" series. The main theory (until demonstrated otherwise) is that mass exerts a force-field with an intensity that falls off as an inverse square law, just like any other type of particle-wave radiation. Currently, there is perhaps evidence that gravitational fields can be warped by intense magnetic fields. Are Dark Matter and Dark Energy true entities or are they just made up entities to force the stars and galaxies in the observable universe to fit with Einstein's gravitational theories and an expanding universe? Is the gravitational constant ‘G’ really a constant or does it depend on electromagnetic fields or on other things too?

There are no known experimental demonstrations of anti-gravity that are unclassified, however according to one hypothetical theory, an anti-gravity device would be driven by anti-mass, such that a gravitational field exerts the exact opposite direction of force than it does with regular mass. In such a system, like masses would attract each other and opposite masses would repel each other.

Black Holes might be created by intense mass collisions in particle accelerators, or by intense magnetic fields that warp gravitation, or by some variation of strong-weak nuclear interactions. Perhaps the space-time anomalies generated by miniature black holes, or the evaporation of them thereof, could spawn anti-mass which would be repelled by ordinary gravitational fields. (all in hypothetical speculation at this point, but perhaps those huge jets of particles escaping black holes are anti-mass)

Minkowski space-time can be curved by using a linear transformation matrix on the basis vector (x,y,z,t), which may be used to represent gravitational lensing as well as Non-Euclidean Geometries. This can be used to reflect reality, say if the coordinates of space-time aren't flat but instead elliptical or hyperbolic and using a linear transformation in order to correct flat Euclidean measurements, and also can be utilized to explain the apparent uniform expansion and contraction of the universe via a cosmological constant as well, assuming that constant actually exists.

A New Definition of Greed (Wealth, Middle Class, and Poor)

Some thoughts about a post A New Definition of Greed over on ATS. (that post alone is definitely worth looking at from a moral and economic standpoint) To summarize, greed should no longer be considered "the excessive desire to keep what you earn", but rather a new definition is provided that makes better sense, in the sense that all scams stem from greed, yet all honest business is non-greedy: Greed - The desire to take the fruit of other people's labor without having to work for it.

I define "wealthy" in a mathematical sense, which is making more money than you spend (which is actually the old definition of greed). I define "poor" as spending more money than you make. You're middle class if you make an equal amount of money as you are spending. The desire to make more money than you spend, ergo to be wealthy, is good IMO.

...note - If you are wealthy and you have the desire to give back, there are two ways of doing it. First, you can open or expand a business and pay more people to work for you, which usually brings in even more abundance if done properly, if it's not a loss leader or a "charitable loss investment" then it's a wise business investment. Second, you can donate your excess money to a charity. Third, the government can take it from you (possibly against your will depending on how you voted) and then implement probable loss leaders or donate to a charity of their own (or help the politician get reelected by paying the lobbyists), which does employ or help people some of the time, but of course is likely to be a much less wise investment than you would have made yourself.

The main challenge of the rich is to convince people that they are wiser than the government. Are they? It's a case by case basis. (note - The government, by these standards, falls into the objectively poor and foolish category because the debt is growing at an expanding rate, consequently most rich people are thereby wiser than the government with their own money.)

This is not a political definition of wealthy or poor, but rather a numerical analysis of it. If the time rate of change of your bank account is positive then you are wealthy. Perhaps we can even look at concavity, if that curve is concave up and the t-roc is positive then you are wealthy and wise. If the curve is concave up and the t-roc is negative then you are poor yet wise...etc. Concave down = foolish, no concavity = inflection point or line.

A moral point here is that it all works assuming people are honest about their contributions to progress instead of becoming greedy and scamming others out of their dues. Another thing to think about is that people shouldn't take a loan if they can't pay it plus the interest back. Greed typically leads to debt, which thereby ultimately leads to enslavement. There is no such thing as a free lunch in nature. (I might revise this last paragraph later on, there is more to add here since it is not thought out rigorously enough yet)

An "L" Stance on Guns and Gun Control

"L" means Libertarian

Guns are morally neutral. Sometimes guns are used by the villains and other times guns used by the heros. Guns exist, they can't be gotten rid of either since there are millions of them in the world, and typically once a gun is made it has a very very long lifetime, getting passed down through the generations, being refurbished and such. The vast vast vast majority of gunshots are merely practice shots, with no intent to kill whatsoever. Guns get more sophisticated all the time, there are a large variety of them as well, and have multiple applications.

Some people use guns for hunting, some for protection (like police officers or guarding against home intruders and vandals or for personal protection against threatening individuals), and others for recreation (shooting cans and targets helps some people concentrate better, others get a thrill out of doing it, target practice, paintball/airsoft, robot competitions, etc). The cops don't always show up in time, and in dangerous neighborhoods people are often times left to fend for themselves, but outlawing guns won't make them go away, the criminals will still get them, and regulation of guns still won't keep them out of the hands of thugs. In fact, outlawing guns will only make it safer for thugs to knock over stores and banks, or to burglarize your home, it will probably start happening more frequently than they do now.

Thugs can get their hands on guns regardless of what the law says, very easy to do, just like how they can get their hands on illegal drugs. Outlawing guns would be tantamount to funding a war on guns, similar to the war on drugs it would be lost merely because there will always be a demand for the gun trade, and furthermore gun companies would just go underground like prohibition, I'm pretty sure people would figure out a way to make their own guns and ammo if they couldn't purchase them or know where to get them.

I think what I am saying here is true, don't you agree? Wouldn't it be much more costly to regulate guns with tax dollars, and then to lock people up just for owning firearms? Aren't our jails already too full as it is? Why make criminals out of all gun enthusiasts just because there are a few criminals in the world whom are way out of control and probably could get guns anyhow? Why sacrifice freedoms in the name of safety, when there isn't even a guarantee of safety even if expensive laws were to be implemented in the first place?

I realize that other countries that prohibit guns have a much lower instance of gun violence, however, they merely don't have the public demand for guns that we do in the US. They spend a lot less in taxes in their gun regulation merely because of this lack of demand for firearms, but in the end it still is a repressed freedom in those countries, their gun enthusiasts probably just move here instead to satisfy their activities. Their criminals merely find other means of killing, such as poisoning or knives or clubs, yes more primitive means to their end, but they achieve it nonetheless.

The Golden Spiral/Rectangle/Ratio/Number

(1) In the first picture below, if you follow the spiral with your finger from the outermost point inwards, you will notice that the squares keep getting smaller. You could, theoretically, follow the spiral infinitely inwards or follow it infinitely outwards too.

(2) You will also notice that the spiral always intersects the corners of squares too. If you follow the spiral inward through any 4 consecutive intersections, you will notice that each of these 4 intersection points is on a side that makes up a rectangle.

(3) In these recangles, the ratio of the length of the short side to the long side is always

1 : (1+√5)/2 --> 1 : 1.618 --> 1 : Phi

... where "Phi" is the "golden number" which is the irrational constant "1.618033...".

(4) The key to understanding the Golden Spiral is that each larger square along the spiral path has a greater sidelength than the previous square by a factor of "Phi", ergo L(i+1)=L(i)*1.618033, and also that the sidelengths of any given square is equivalent to the net summation of the sidelengths of the previous two squares, ergo L(i) = L(i-1)+L(i-2).

(5) And hence, you have the most important ratio in ancient Greek architecture. They used this kind of golden rectangle in building the Parthenon as you can see in the front elevation in the picture below.

(6) The Fibonacci Sequence can be used as an approximation for generating the Golden Spiral. The sequence is generated by starting with {1, 1, ...} and then adding those together 1+1=2, then 1+2 = 3, 2+3 = 5, 5+3 = 8, and so on and so forth. Why Heat Death of the Universe Probably is Incorrect

I'm not a "heat deather" for a few reasons I'm going to speculate about here:

(1) The Pauli-Exclusion Principle states the following: No two fermions of the same kind may simultaneously occupy the same quantum state. Ergo it is technically impossible for a black hole to contain a singularity of infinite energy density, unless of course the black hole is composed only of bosons. However, I hypothesize that black holes actually convert bosons into fermis via hawking radiation.

(2) I also hypothesize that it is impossible for fermis to enter the event horizon of a black hole, which is why those giant jet streams of ultra-hot particles are always being observed near black holes (or maybe it's converted to anti-mass).

(3) Heat entropy goes in reverse at sufficiently cold vacuum states, such as out between the expanses of the galaxies where space is endlessly stretching. This extreme cold state of the universe actually is responsible for bose-einstienien condensation which brings bosons into a same energy level state. I hypothesize that as the universe cools down a lot that fermions are converted back into bosons and dark matter.

(4) Heat entropy does not increase linearly with time and gravitational entropy does not decrease linearly with time, as heat deathers assume they do, but rather chaotically rises up and down over time like the stock market. Every time a star goes nova or a big bang occurs, that represents a spike upwards in heat entropy and a spike downwards in gravitational entropy. Every time a black hole forms in the hot centers of galaxies or a cloud of bosons condenses out in the cold vacuums of space, that represents a spike downwards in heat entropy and a spike upwards in gravitational entropy.

A Rebuttal to the Buddhist Concept of Self

The buddhist believes that he/she is one with the universe (ergo the self is the universe), whereas I define the boundries of "self" as being where functionality stops. When people are interacting with something then suddenly the two systems become one, but when they stop interacting the system splits back into two separate systems once again.

The boundaries of self is dependent on what function you are serving at a given time, the boundaries of ego are constantly inflating and deflating with your conscious functionality. If you happen to be driving then your ego merges with the vehicle that you are controling, if you are using a camera or computer, playing sports, etc, your ego merges with whatever function you are performing.

i.e. People can be one with a golf club if they happen to be in the process of using that golf club, but as soon as that golf club goes back into the bag it becomes a separate entity, no longer a part of the user (except that the golf club becomes a part of the bag which then becomes a part of the caddy or golfcart, but if you carry the golfbag then it remains a part of yourself). The buddhist would have you believe that your self is permanently attached to that golf club regardless (and the rest of the universe for that matter), independent of whether you are using it or carrying it or not....lol.

A Buoyant Saucer Design

Here is a conversation I had with ATR1337 on Youtube about the video UFO Technology Revealed:

QF: Very nice concept, however, I doubt this could go very fast, and it probably would be quite unstable in terms of linear and angular motion (think helium balloon) if there was sufficient wind.

ATR1337: The craft is quite light and thus it requires little energy to move it. Stability is achieved via it's 360 degree thrust vectoring and on board computers that can make thousands of adjustments a minute. Stealth craft are the same way, very unstable and use computers to stabilize them.

QF: Perhaps it can be stable, I'll bet people (hobbyists and professionals alike) could make a remote controlled saucer on this concept. My other curiosity is what sort of material to use that can be airtight and also withstand 1 atm pressure while displacing more air than it weighs, and can also get the weight of the vacuum pumps, battery or power source, fan, servo motors, computers, etc on board...anyhow, the craft is probably doable, I think it would be cool to be able to make one for myself.

ATR1337: I would imagine titanium would be enough to fit the bill. Even more so would be carbon nano tube materials. Extremely light and strong. The Japanese have plans to build an elevator cable to space out of nano tubes and if it's strong enough to support a structure that large I think it could withstand vacuum containment.

QF: Very cool, however I'll bet there is no way for it to go into space though.

ATR1337: People only ever assumed these craft operate in space... They don't. Though the concept can be used to take things closer to space and be used as a launching point into space.

(PhysOrg.com) -- Life on Earth as we know it really could be from out of this world. New research from Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory scientists shows that comets that crashed into Earth millions of years ago could have produced amino acids - the building blocks of life.

Computer simulations show that long chains containing carbon-nitrogen bonds can form during shock compression of a cometary ice. Upon expansion, the long chains break apart to form complexes containing the protein building amino acid glycine.

Amino acids are critical to life and serve as the building blocks of proteins, which are linear chains of amino acids.

In the Sept. 12 online edition of the journal Nature Chemistry, LLNL’s Nir Goldman and colleagues found that simple molecules found within comets (such as water, ammonia, methylene and carbon dioxide) just might have been instigators of life on Earth. His team discovered that the sudden compression and heating of cometary ices crashing into Earth can produce complexes resembling the amino acid, glycine.

9/11 Case Study: Pentagon Flight 77

Nothing like a Solidworks presentation synched up with security camera evidence and the detailed photos of the wreckage to demonstrate that the official story, a Boeing 757 Flight 77, really did hit the Pentagon as opposed to being a small plane or missile. This crash was nothing less than the sadistic homicidal actions of fundamentalist religious jihadist, and also an all out declaration of war against the United States of America.

Here is a print screen freeze frame of the security video that I took and then circled the various truths with yellow. That orange thing in the bottom right is a cone. Each one of those gas tanks on the plane is about a 2000 gallon molitov cocktail flying about 200 or 300 miles per hour or so (some cars with 20 gallon gas tanks obviously go about half to three quarters that fast too, but the kinetic energy, the damage, and the fireball would be much smaller if it were a car or small plane or something else like that).

Snopes even tackles this one about a missile hitting the Pentagon...apparently the outer Pentagon wall is about 24 inch thick reinforced concrete and the interior 4 layers (my guess from the photos) are about a foot thick of reinforced concrete each.

(1) Purpose, which is essentially having a big goal or master plan that you're working towards accomplishing in life. Everybody ought to have their own mission agenda(s) that they are working towards in life since everybody has an ego, psychologically speaking.

(2) Flow, which is accomplishing the important tasks and goals along the way that are necessary to gain more access toward achieving your mission agenda(s) in life. It may be necessary to modify your planned action steps whenever there is a holdup that is preventing you from achieving your goals, and in fact it may be advisable to routinely readjust your action steps depending on how turbulent your mission agenda is at any given time. In more turbulent times, the more accurate and quicker the feedback you get on your routines, the better you can assess how to readjust your action steps, whereas in more laminar times it may be advantageous to challenge yourself toward even more complex tasks.

(3) Pleasure, which is rewarding yourself in proportion to your task accomplishments, is an extremely important mechanism that enhances your desirability for more success. The more you succeed, the more ability that you gain and thereby the more complexity you can handle too. You'll get bored if you don't handle gradually increasing complexity in your life, and you'll get anxious if you have to handle too much complexity that you are not skilled enough for though. Roger Penrose is so so very close to being right, except for the fact that black holes are very very hot, not very very cold. He is confusing gravitational entropy which is huge with heat entropy which is actually extremely low in a black hole.

My hypothesis is that the universe operates like a perpetual motion lava lamp. In the hottest densist regions (black holes) particles are being spit out at near the speed of light, and in the coldest most vacuous regions of space particles are condensing back together.

(The main idea is that probability amplitudes are dependent on entropy values, as temperature decreases the entropy of a system increases, and as entropy increases the probability amplitudes shift toward particles converging together (kinetic energy is converted to mass energy)....or as temperature increases the entropy of a system decreases, and as entropy decreases the probability amplitudes shift toward particles diverging from each other (mass energy is converted to kinetic energy))

I hypothesize that while gravitational entropy decreases as a result of the universe expanding and cooling down, the thermal entropy increases, and probability amplitudes thereby cause particles to become superconducting and frictionless superfluids, fermions transform into bosons and dark matter, everything randomly starts condensing back together in the coldest most vacuous regions of space out there in the vast disances between the galaxies:

In the parts where particles are merging back together the quickest at the galactic centers in black holes, while gravitational entropy is being ramped up a huge amount the particles are escaping their fate because the thermal entropy is being significantly decreased (a lot of heat being crammed into a small volume of space), bosons are being transformed into dark energy and fermions which thereby separate from each other at high velocities (the Big Bang is an example of this too). I have figured that out that even at moderate temperatures such as room temperature (60 F - 100 F) carbon dioxide gas can build up to tens of atmospheres (14.7 psi = 1 atm) of pressure. Tire pressure is about 40 psi, and most air compressors that pump up tires achieve about 180 psi (15 atmospheres). If an air compressor explodes that makes a big explosion, now consider how CO2 gas can build up to about 80 atmospheres of pressure before liquidizing (or 2 phasing), an explosion of that magnitude might, just might create bomb crators on Mars!?

Quantum's Guide to Texas Hold-Em Poker

I find that poker is a beautiful demonstration of the power of knowing your probabilities. Texas Hold-em (or perhaps you may want to think of it as "Texas Fold-Em" as I do) is a game whereby 2 cards are dealt on the pre-flop. A round of bets is made after the pre-flop. The following is a rough categorical guide to the pre-flop as well as an organization of hands based on probabilities and, incidentally, the intrinsic values of such hands.

Then 3 other cards are dealt on the flop, here shows the basic odds for such a 5 card stud, which is essentially what players are doing on the flop. Another round of betting takes place after the flop.

Then two more cards are dealt with each additional card having another round of bets. (note, there may be errors in the following table, but it should be roughly accurate)

I find that an optimal free online66 (I downloaded this and placed icon in my games folder right next to solitaire) winning strategy goes as follows:

Defence: In order to not get stung, be sure to play at a beginners table (the "experts" table is characterized by large blinds-double blinds and people crazily going all in for easy profits, AKA easy and fast losses). Certainly you want to have small blinds-double blinds and a no limit pot or pot limit with a low buy in, no fixed limit stuff though. You want multiple players, optimally 4-6, this way you can fold inconspicuously until you've got a decent hand (migs or above if the stakes are high, go in with emirates or even pirates or if you happen to have a pair of anything if the stakes are considerably low during your pre-flop bet). After the flop, decide whether you've got something worth while (above hellz, or perhaps a descent boardwalk) or bet on that 4th card if the stakes are low, a good rule of thumb is to bet when you've got doubles or higher than the flop card of middle value (upper value if 4+ people still haven't folded). Never bet on that 5th card unless you've got something already, the 5th card flop is solely for raising the pot amount and thereby the profits.

Bluffing or All-In on a mid-probable win: Never do so unless you're willing to lose your stacks. If somebody is going all in multiple times in a row on the pre-flop then they are probably bluffing and then you might have a good chance of beating them out (assuming you've got above migs), but mostly just fold the round and let them lose their money to some other fool whose willing to call the bet. Remember, easy come-easy go with big bluffs and bold bets.

Stinging: Once you've gained a pile an order of magnitude or two larger than your opponents, then to maximize your (funny or perhaps real money) profits is to have (1) an even table of inexperienced or slow learning players, (2) a good hand, (3) enough chips to force them to go all in, and (4) still have enough chips left to do that multiple times in a row until you've raked it all in. Then, deal yourself out, wait a couple hours, then come back to the computer and repeat the process again when people have begun to build up their stacks again.

Negative, because they listen for analogue radio waves, not for geospatial signals that travel line of site! However, a ton of information could be encoded and transmitted in a single flash of a coherent laser beam using a system similar to this, there are billions of ways to encode signals and this one is kind of like a bar code scanner for secret signals. Such a signal like this one would be impossible to intercept unless you are in the line of site of the signal being transmitted, along with all the other requirements for recieving and decoding a signal.

Listening to reason, the quickest way to achieve near perfection is by following in the path that has already been blazed by the intellect and that has been illuminated by one's own intuition.

3:8) Reason is the gradient which points toward your life’s maximum potential, so aim your willpower wherever reason leads you and then you will most assuredly succeed in obtaining your personal goals in life. Of course, it is highly advisable to set personal goals that are reasonable.

3:9) Time is an infinite instant; Space is an infinite singularity. All of the laws of the universe are governed by the intermingling of space and time. Ultimately, however, all of laws of the universe are dependent on mathematics.

Civilization 4 Tips

1. Make your first goal to be expansion and settling when you are just beginning. A good method is to build your cities near fresh water and also near ocean squares, first and foremostly, and secondly try to position your cities near resource rich lands because that's the backbone that your civilization will be using for the rest of the gametime, if you have plenty of extra resources at your disposal then you can use them as bargaining chips with other nations whom are "less fortunate" (if you take the resources then they need to trade with you to get them, but never give them anything they might use against you or any of their enemies for that matter because that will make their enemies mad at you).

2. Get workers to cultivate and mine the land and to estabolish trade routes between all the cities. Invest in the development of those resources you've settled on (granaries, harbors, forges, factories, aquaducts). As soon as it becomes researched, it is very helpful to build railroads between all your cities. Certainly it is important to develop farms and and villages, mines and windmills, etc. The Great Lighthouse is helpful for estabolishing trade routes between port cities. Other good resourse wonders to develop are the Three Gorges Dam and Ironworks.

3. Trading with other countries - Good bargaining techologies to trade with other countries are the mediocre governmental and religious ones that will plunge them into a temporary state of anarchy if they use, they'll pay a lot of money for your worthless crap and sometimes they'll even trade good resources and military tech in return, plus it makes them like you more thereby preventing them from going to war against you.

4. Invest in economics (banking, marketplaces, groceries). One good cultural wonder in this category is The Stock Market.

5. Invest your tax rates in science (libraries, acadamies, universities, observatories, laboratories), but just enough taxes to get the job done in the least amount of time and no more because you want to store the rest of that in the treasury. Also, it helps to build certain world wonders such as The Great Library.

6. Develop your government style, it is nice to be able to pay workers (universal suffrage) and to have a caste system that work towards emancipation, it is nice to have free speech and free religion (liberalism), it is nice to see free trade progress towards environmentalism.

7. Culture - After you're done building cities and trade routes, if you don't have anymore economic or scientific facilities to build for the time being, and you happen to be waiting on the next technology to come along, then it might be of some use to build culture expanding achievements (coloseums or even religious confuscist temples so you can send missionaries out to confuse other countries with superstitious missinformation and make their citizens demand religious structures that stifle the development of other more important structures on their development agendas). Good wonders to build include The Statue of Liberty, but generally all the other cultural wonders are helpful for increasing citizen morale later in the game.

8. Absolutely avoid going to war. War wastes resources, money, and it decreases your population which decreases your rate of innovation and rate of worker productivity. However, there is something to be said for national security though, and on the infrequent occasion where another country is being threatening, it helps to have each city armed with some defensive units and barracks so that you can periodically upgrade those defensive units throughout the game if need be, barbarians and other countries are less likely to attack if you upgrade the military units in your cities to the latest and greatest. Developing "The Pentagon" wonder is very helpful in addition to barracks. Drydocks and lighthouses are important for building military transports and ships and such.

9. Win a space victory. Develop the Apollo Program and the Space Elevator. Have each city develop the spacecraft components as quickly as possible while researching further spacecraft componenets. Do so as quickly and efficiently as possible, but be sure to arm your cities with tanks on railroads so you can quickly avert any potential attempts by other countries to sabatoge your space program with war before you get it off the ground.

I did this, I kicked ass, I launched a spacecraft in the year 1951 and won the game while everybody else was fighting over religions and resources, the following shows my scores on chieftian....

....if I had to fight a war though, hmmmm, I could have easily developed the Manhattan Project and then nuked everybody from space before they had time to develope Communism, the United Nations, and Nuclear Non-proliferation, but that would be an immoral destruction of resources and contamination of the environment that all countries need to exist, including my own in this scenario. Indeed, and one sided nuclear war would actually be considered the MOST optimal solution as far as world domination goes, essentially sending everybody back to the stone ages, quick and painless is the best kind of war anybody can hope for, as opposed to long and drawn out. Consider the fact that the middle easterners have had a long and drawn out war for the last few centuries, and yet they aren't even a superpower and never will be (their "holy land" which they fight for isn't exactly a paradise IMO, but it does by random luck of history have oil). In essense, all wars are bad wars, even the ones that you win because they take away from what you could have been discovering and creating instead....

Note: I recently bought some rechargeable NiMH Energizer batteries for my remote control airplane and now, because of this, I'm glad I got a good deal too (I was unsure at $18 per four batteries and a charger, but over 700 recharges that comes out to be about a couple pennies per four fully charged batteries which also outlasts all other batteries under continuous use conditions as well).

Note: This article is written for men, but women are free to read it and critique it for accuracy sake.

Women Theory 101 - The more you demonstrate that you've got your life together the more they love you for it. Everything's a gamble though, there is a tradeoff between how perfect your life is and how much they can offer to keep you in a relationship with them. The key trump card move they can make is to have a baby which might trap you into a permanent relationship, so be careful to use some form of birth control unless you are planning on having a kid or two, but frequent sex only happens if you don't make them feel very important in other regards while they're still trying to keep you. Too much sex in a relationship might make you look bad if you aren't a very good lover, they might get bored and lose interest if they don't have anything else on their relationship agenda to do, so a goal is to not be too perfect for them which you are probably not going to be able to do because they will attempt to start trouble in order to solve trouble if it comes down to that (one avenue for this disfunction is religion). On the other hand, there will be less sex in the relationship if you make them fix too much of your shit in life, and possibly they might leave for somebody less demanding unless you show some amount of forward progress in the relationship.

Am I missing something? Physical attractiveness helps, but that too is included in the aspect of having your life together, maybe lift some weights or do some aerobic exercises and such, the ability to lift a few bags of quickcrete over your head and carry it a reasonable distance can easily make up for having a smaller jousting rod in the bedroom.

WD-40 is the universal organic solvent....I'll bet inorganic life could evolve on a planet that is 2/3 covered by the stuff. Simply great for getting the stickers off the back of ceramic dishes and such.....Hmmm, I wonder if WD-40 will be the necessary ingredient for nanorobots to evolve into macrobots? Perhaps WD-40 is what astronomers really should be looking for, not water. Also, less chance of an inorganic WD-40 based species coming to Earth and stealing all our water.

Another Challenge for Hawking

Would a species that participates in a lot of high stakes zero sum games make it very far beyond their own star system? There isn't very much resources in space, would it be wise for a spacefaring species to attack a civilization that has the home field advantage as opposed to, say, landing on the rest of the uninhabited planets in our solar system? Why would an advanced civilization participate in zero sum games such as war? Such thoughts stem from our own primitive prejudices.

Wherein is the hostility? Am I to believe that alien life forms value mass energy consumption? Shouldn't it be logically concluded that mass energy consumption is contrary to sustainability in the long run?

I think that the very nature of competition evolves as intelligence evolves. The new competitions for humankind, for example, take place in the form of technology and business. I think the aliens would hack into our communication systems and try to decipher how we function, and then try to reengineer us to function differently, end goal being to change our society to serve their purposes, and possibly they might contribute to our quality of life in the process too.

Or, on an even playing field, they might achieve a mutually benefitial relationship with us, in game theory as in economics that is a much better way to go about an exchange between intelligent species.

Stephen Hawking: alien life is out there, scientist warns

For the record, this is not the first time I've challenged Hawking's bad thinking on this blog either, in fact that article is in direct contradiction to something he said earlier about that probability of alien existance in our nearby galaxy being extremely low:

In the end, it doesn't matter how intelligent an individual or a species is, there are always high degrees of uncertainty in any exchange. Just like in poker, due to the uncertainty factor, one intelligent individual might fold a hand that would have become a royal flush, while another intelligent individual might go all in on a hand that actually amounts to a loss in the end, although the one that folded the royal flush didn't go bankrupt. Hawking's logic is essentially that, folding, not transmitting radio waves will ensure that we don't lose big time in such an exchange, even if such an exchange could potentially result in huge winnings.

My Thoughts about Zeitgeist

Overall a good movie, but "Zeitgeist: Addendum" goes too far on some counts, and then it doesn't go far enough on others. The creepy looking eye signifies the government is trying to control you through subtle propaganda. Here are a few points of contention I'd like to make about the movie:

(1) Money isn't evil, it is a life-source that people currently need to live on.
(2) Corporations aren't evil, they are the current means to the net advancement of technology.
(3) Our technology simply isn't evolved to the point whereby oil can be replaced yet.
(4) Subsidization of alternative energy sources is an empowerment to bigger government.
(5) Healthy competition is necessary for the continued diversity and evolution of technology, humanity and life, while oneness and uniformity would be our downfall.

Other than those few points of contention, a good movie that I generally agree with the gist of, albeit that I believe in the law of supply and demand for technology whereby these Zeitgeisters believe that technology can somehow be entirely for free (nothing is free though, thus is the basic nature of entropy, in our society it is money that acts as the mediation between entropic work being done and thereby complexity evolving or order being restored, the accumulation of wealth is the difference between being free and being in submission to those whom are free, it is political freedom that allows people to work the economic system to gain their true financial freedoms but eliminating political constraints doesn't necessarily create an economic utopia whereby everybody wins though, there will always be winners and losers just like in poker or any other kind of game theoretic system that involves some combination of strategy and chance, the thing that will merely evolve alongside societal progress is the definition of what constitutes "winning" and that will naturally become more advanced as civilization advances technologically, perhaps free time and energy will be the universal currency of the future!?, also fat chance avoiding future wars in space since wars always occur when resources are rare and competition is high due to increasing population).

Free Chaos Will

Mathematical Chaos Theory states that two events with very similar initial conditions can actually lead to completely different outcomes. Somebody could say something with merely the wrong emphasis on a syllable during a job interview which could thereby negatively impact the world for the next 30 years due to that other dumbass getting the job instead of you. Even something as mundane as a butterfly flapping it's wings by just a millimeter at just the right orgasmic moment could have entirely prevented Adolf Hitler from ever being born and the entire NAZI party wouldn't have been formed. The world is a very unstable thing, some events are fundamentally much more chaotic and unpredictable than other things, and that principle is scale invariant too.

You can't know the exact position of a given particle-wave with any greater precision than the Hiesenburg Uncertainty Principle allows for, or in some all too elaborate interpretations the position is in all possible states until the outcomes are measured, but Multiverse should perhaps be rejected based on a violation of the known conservation laws. At any rate, the slightest deviation within that subatomic uncertainty range can lead to drastically different outcomes in the measurement.

Now, multiply that subatomic uncertainty times every single particle-wave in the entire universe and you've got a-hell-of-a-lot-of possible outcomes, and yet only one possible outcome range for momentum and position or time and energy is measurable for each of the individual particles in the Universe. Consequently, history is just as unpredictable as the future is, especially in the long term after many events have occured. For instance, you can't determine the exact state of the universe before the Big Bang occured, or even the exact state of the Universe at any given time for that matter.

On top of all that, one can't even predict the exact outcome trajectory of an N-body collision between more than 3 unrestrained masses because, aside from stating that the energy and the linear and angular momentum of the system are conserved as is consistant with statistical thermodynamics, it turns out there are far more variables than there are equations for estimating the exact trajectories for all the particles involved in a given classical or quantum system. It is, therefore, Bayesian Statistics which is necessary for determining how unrestrained physical systems fundamentally behave in the long term, even if they behave rather mechanicaly in the short term their behaviour will eventually deviate toward entropy with repeat trials (that's why we have to clean things such as washing our clothes and why we have preventative as in oil change and diagnostic as in engine repair type maintanence progams, why we have many other order sustaining activities $$$, etc).

Ergo, I posit the existance of "Free Chaos Will". Everything in nature has Free Chaos Will, which means we can't predict the exact outcome of any event with any greater precision than certainties will allow. Aside from the conservation of energy and linear and angular momentum given by statistical mechanics, at the subatomic level there are also a few more quantities which are conserved such as charge, probability, weak isospin, and color charge, and then there are also CPT, spacetime, and other physical symmetries which apply to nature as well. Apart from all those physical constraints that nature subjects itself to, nature seems to possess some degree of Free Chaos Will for determining how the rest of causality all plays out.

Now it's on the web though, with the anti-tobacco message in all it's cool glory for everybody to see (it's much better than the printing of baby pictures on cigarrette cartons, IMO). God is an imaginary robot, a vapor bot, a halfbaked self-inconsistant notion cooked up by cavemen, something that hasn't even been fully invented yet....yup, God.

On another note, I'm listening to a soundtrack called "The Art of Analogue Diversion", and I've got so much nihilistic euphoria surging through my mind right now that I think I'll continue doing stuff that a giant evolved turing machine like myself does best....doing stuff, lol, except for happily doing stuff now. If it were not for the complete pointlessness of life I could never be simultaneously this bored and yet also so productive at the same time. It gives me the incentive to set impossible goals for myself, such as trying to become the first multi-trillionare and the greatest inventor of all time, or something, lol.

Nihilism is about being creative and honest....I add onto that a little rational self interest, but in order to be objective (the next level above being honest) I need goals that can be quantized. Money can be quantized, as can fame. Nihilism is the realization that achieving my goals is pointless, same as everything else is pointless too, and thereby I am achieving pointless goals. It's fine though, I don't give a shit, I've got nothing to lose anyway and the only thing I've got to gain is the realization of whether my goals have gotten achieved or not before I die, perhaps in the distant future. Oh yeah, time spent alive is another quantifiable goal, thus I decide to eat healthy and excercise regularly as well. (I could make eating 50 McNuggets a goal, but it's desire that drives me toward my pointless goals, I don't desire to get fat).

How does desire work? Who cares, I'm a Nihilist, I just go after whatever the random chaos in my brain desires, as does everybody else apparently, only difference is that my random chaos of a brain is a little more orderly than everybody elses and therefore I am a "better" individual because of it.
